Managed IPsec VPN#

The major cloud providers usually offer the ability to set up IPsec tunnels instead of expensive interconnects.

These endpoints can be managed as backbone components to the network.

Resilience#

IPsec tunnels can be created to match the resilience needs of the network.

For example in a standard 2 datacentre backbone, 2 IPsec tunnels, 1 per datacentre could be created, allowing for datacentre failure.

Configuration details#

We will require the configuration details from the cloud provider when the IPsec endpoint is set up in their platform.

Generating this information varies between the providers.
