Terminology
High level terminology for building network topologies#
Abstracting networks and adding transparent network features involves complexity.
In order to simplify descriptions, we use terms to that we try to use consistently in order to separate different components that otherwise could be similarly named.
- Connection
- Hub (Application, Storage, Internet Transit, Security)
- Link
- Backbone
- Software Defined Cloud Interconnects
In the networking world there are a great many things that could be described as a connection or a link, and even more as an interface.
We've tried to name elements of our technology, such as TAG and TAP after already established terms.
The above list is our attempt to both keep things simple, and be descriptive enough to be understood.
