Links
ISP circuits (and wireless services)#
The basic component used to provide the edge transport underlay (abstraction layer 0) is an internet facing ISP circuit. These can be anything from 3G/4G/5G
, broadband such as ADSL
and FTTC
, synchronous services such as Ethernet
leased lines, and FTTP
.
As long as it can provide routing to a backbone network and provides uncontended bandwidth, it can be used to provide the underlay.
DHCP and static IP Link configurations#
The default for configured Links is a DHCP lease from the Link NTE/CPE. TAPs establish automatically once a link is configured and create an layer 2 Ethernet tunnel ready for use by a Tunnel Aggregation Group.
Number of links#
There is no theoretical maximum for the number of links that can be used in a single connection, but in practical terms the local infrastructure of the site will determine those numbers, along with the affordability of the additional links.
Example : We currently have deployed to customers, 10x link connections up and running based on broadband technologies and Ethernet services.
